BICYCLE TRIP

The following pictures shows our bicycle trip over the 4th of July weekend. We took 2 trips. One about 16 miles and one about 18 miles. On Saturday we left the cabin and traveled to Raccoon Lake. We took some little traveled roads and saw many sites. We left about 9:30 am and were out until about 2 pm. On Sunday we left about 9 am and didn't know where we were going. Our first choice turned out to be all gravel roads and we didn't like that so we turned around and headed toward Ferndale. We went south at Ferndale and ended up in Mansfield. There were several large hills to climb which I was unable to do. Here are some of the sites we saw along the way.

We left the cabin on the way to a bicycle ride.

Here is Sid waiting to get on with the ride.

We saw several animals on the way.

One of the singing sparrows

Here we saw an Amish smoke house. Notice the smoke coming from the chimney. We later saw the Amish gentleman come out of the house with his pipe and tobacco.

We were going up the hill toward the Raccoon Lake dam. Sid is waiting on me. I had to push my bike up the hill here as I did several times.

We took off on a side road at Raccoon Lake and came across the dike. There is Sid waiting on me again.

Sid made a trip into the woods.

What would you do it you saw this guy coming toward you? (notice the feather in the hat. Just call me macaroni)

These guys were just waiting. They could not believe we made it this far.

We watched some of the boats at Raccoon Lake

The leader was keeping them entertained with his dancing as they waited.

We headed down this little traveled road.

butterfly

We weren't exactly sure what this meant.

Sid took off his helmet and was disgusted to find that he had helmet hair.

This fellow was looking at us.

He didn't like what he saw.

Now we had to go up this hill.

As usual the only way I could catch Sid was with a picture.

We stopped for a coke but it didn't seem to be open.

This place wasn't open either. When we found an open place we realized that we didn't have any money.

Panorama after leaving Mansfield. That little white speck toward the right is the mill.

They were still scouting us.

He left me again. I had to push.
